I love to see things off the beaten path. This was taken in Los Cayos de Venezuela somewhere away from the main islands.

I have always been a very curious person. I blame it on my mom who always used to tell me to, “read a book or clean the house” if I was bored. I always hated cleaning so I grew to love reading and always chose to read a book!

Maybe this is why I think travel and teaching go so well together.  This is why I have named my blog Teaching Wanderlust.

Merriam-Webster defines “Teaching” as, “the act, practice, or profession of a teacher”. I really like how they include the word practice, because everyday that I wake up and teach I feel like I am practicing and growing as a teacher.

They also define  “Wanderlust” as a, “strong longing for or impulse toward wandering”.

Despite my boss “strongly urging” my friends and I not to travel, four out of the original six of us are still traveling to Trinidad today.  The way I see things is that part of international teaching is being able to see the world, and if I don’t take every opportunity to do so, I am letting myself down.

It is nearly 6AM and we are about to leave our hotel in Caracas, Venezuela to head to Port of Spain, Trinidad to celebrate Carnival.  Wish us luck because Caracas is known for delayed flights and long waits.  Wanderlust has taken over me!
