The funny thing is that I am always itching to move somewhere abroad, but I know a ton of foreign teachers who are itching to move to the US. I guess they like the orderly lines, available products, predictable schedules, and reasonable safety of the US (as compared to Venezuela).

While I was looking online for some programs to help my friends teach abroad, I found quite a few resources that seem worth checking out. I have never used these programs myself, nor do I know anyone who has, so if you or someone you know has participated in one of these programs, I would love to hear more about them!

Most places seem to have the same minimum requirements:

1. Fluency in English

2. Teaching License

3.  A 4 year Bachelor’s degree

4. 3 years of teaching experience

Programs that sponsor foreign qualified teachers (J-1 Visa):

According to this official US Government website J-1 Visa there are individual DOEs that sponsor J-1 Teachers…but I couldn’t ever find info on their websites myself. So if you are really interested in teaching in one of the states listed on the .gov website, then you should try calling or emailing the district directly.

Well my foreign friends, I hope you have found something useful here! Let me know if you found another resource in the comments below so I can add it to the list.  Be sure to send me an email once you get your overseas teaching job so I can interview you for the blog!
