December Round Up

Havana Cuba

I’ve been obsessed with Cuban salsa for the past few years and I can’t wait to salsa in Cuba! Photo cred http://www.flickr.com/photos/chewie/4110238190/

December is the month of adventures and school craziness. From holiday shows to winter concerts, Christmas parties, and dance practice, I have been busy.  Half of the month and the first week of January I am on vacation so I’ve arranged posts ahead of time.

Around the Web:

One of my favorite blogs writes about finance pretty regularly. Here are their top finance posts of the year.

It is winter and this is the best time to use your crockpot to make hearty meals.  Here is a link to 17 great slow-cooker recipes.

As a teacher, I was really excited to see this post about the best children’s books of 2016. The art in the Pinocchio: The Origin Story looks fantastic!

Music:

I’ve been a Maroon 5 fan since I was in high school and so I tend to like most of their music. I was super happy when the new song, “I Don’t Wanna Know” came out on Youtube! It is a great song for playing while working on my report cards!

Books:

I read “Island of Glass“, which book three of the Guardians Trilogy by Nora Roberts. I really like the way she adds some magic to the average romance novel. I’m partial to her work since I’ve read most of her books since I was a teenager, but I really enjoy the way this story developed a whole mythical world with goddesses and a rogue goddess who needed to be defeated.

Movies:

This month I saw the adorable movie, “The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them“. It takes place in New York in 1926 and tells the story of Newt Scamander as he comes to the US with a magical case full of magical creatures that manage to get loose in the city.  Great movie to watch with kids or adults alike!

TV:

Another season of Survivor ended and it went exactly the way I predicted. I still wanted Ken to win, though! My guilty pleasure returned to TV for another season: “America’s Next Top Model”.  Don’t judge.  hahaha
